Haruku Island


Haruku Island is a small island in Maluku Province, which have beautiful nature scenery. Haruku only about 15 minutes by speedboat from Tulehu, the dock cross to Haruku. Speedboat to haruku provided 2-3 times/day depends on number of passenger. From Tulehu, Haruku can reach about 30 minutes.
Along the trip to Haruku Island we can see deep blue sea.  One side of Haruku Island is solid rock with clear and transparent sea water. Its beach has smooth white sands We can also see the beauty of coral reefs and many kind of fish. And that make our trip more pleasure is, when we arrive in one village, we will greeted by the friendly locals.

Haruku Island there is also traditional dance, Cakalele dance. Cakalele dance is a dance of greatness, because of this dance used to greet guests, such as religious leaders, or government officials. The dancer wear red, that meant brave, heroism, and patriotism of Maluku people.

People in Haruku Island have an interesting folktale. This is the story. In Learisa Kayeli River, lived a female crocodile. That crocodile called "Raja Learisa Kayeli" by locals. This crocodile was very friendly with the locals. Long time ago, there was not a bridge in Haruku Island, so, when sea water in high condition, Haruku people must cross that river. The crocodile often help them, by way of provide her back boarded by people. For the return, people gave the crocodile rings, made from “ijuk” and posted in that crocodile fingers. Unfortunately, one day that crocodile died because of a sea war to help other crocodiles in Seram Island. On olden days people in haruku Island believed in the power department which often help them invisible.
